In Aniimo, you don't level up by beating on wild creatures until dawn: according to closed-beta observations, your Pathfinder level stays locked until you pass the next promotion exam in Elite Training. The method that works fits in one sentence: main story first, exams as soon as they open, then dailies and captures of new species to close the gap. Here is the detailed plan, numbers included.
Two gauges to watch: yours and your Aniimo's
Aniimo separates two progressions that are easy to confuse at first:
- Character level (Pathfinder). This is what sets the level cap for all your Aniimo. As long as you are level 30, none of your companions will go past 30, whatever you do.
- Each Aniimo's own XP. It is earned in battle or through experience gems, which you apply directly to the creature of your choice.
The practical consequence is simple: there is no point stuffing gems into an Aniimo that has already reached your cap. Focus on your own progression, and save the gems to catch up a newcomer you want to bring in line with the rest of the team quickly. If you are just starting out, our guide Getting started explains how to manage these resources without wasting them.
The lock: Elite Training promotion exams
This is the point that changes everything compared to a classic monster-catching game. Your Pathfinder level is capped until you pass the next promotion exam in Elite Training. Each successful promotion:
- gives you a new title;
- raises your level cap and that of your Aniimo;
- unlocks character talents;
- opens new game modes.
Farming enemies, on the other hand, unlocks none of that. You can bank XP in reserve, but you will stay stuck at the cap until the next exam. The announced final cap is level 71.
To be confirmed on the launch version. All the figures in this guide (XP per mission, per capture, per day, level 71 cap) come from observations made during the closed beta and from specialist press articles from September 2026. Pawprint Studio may adjust them at launch: treat them as orders of magnitude, not values set in stone.
The efficiency order, from most rewarding to most trivial
Based on what we measured, here is how to rank your XP sources.
- 1The main story
The number one source. It takes you through the regions in the logical level order, hands out XP generously and leads you naturally to each promotion exam.
- 2Elite Training
Course missions yield about 100 XP each, main lessons between 300 and 1,500 XP depending on your level. Above all, they are what open the caps: do them as soon as they are available.
- 3Journey rewards
A handbook of objectives that rewards what you are already doing while playing. Remember to claim the tiers, the XP is not paid out automatically.
- 4Captures along the way
Between 150 and 300 XP per capture depending on the Aniimo's stage. Catch every new species you come across, not everything that moves: the first catch of a species is the one that really counts.
- 5Daily activities and the rest
Up to roughly 1,800 XP per day through dailies, plus the Pathfinder challenges you meet on the map and the Lumin Amber picked up between fights.
Why this order? Because the first three sources are finite but massive: once used up, they don't come back, so you might as well consume them first to reach the exams as fast as possible. Captures and dailies, on the other hand, are there to fill the gaps when the story demands a level you don't have yet.
Dailies: your XP income
With close to 1,800 XP per day recorded in the beta, daily activities are the most regular source in the game. They won't pass an exam for you, but they guarantee you reach the next cap without downtime.
Two extras to fold into the same outing:
- Pathfinder challenges you come across on the Idyll map. The harder the challenge, the more it pays: don't run from them when your team is at the zone's level.
- Lumin Amber. It lies around everywhere between fights and feeds the region's Branches; pick it up systematically, it only costs a few seconds.
Optimize your routes through Idyll
The real time saving doesn't come from a miracle source, but from the art of chaining several objectives on a single route. Before setting off, look at what lies along your path: a story quest, a Pathfinder challenge, a species you haven't captured yet, an Amber spot. One well-prepared round trip is worth three improvised outings.
Two traps to avoid:
- Alphas and Omegas are mostly worth their first-clear reward. They consume energy, and redoing the same fight on loop is a bad deal.
- Sanctums are not a good XP farm. Do them for their own rewards, not to level up.
To move fast between these objectives, an Aniimo that flies or sprints changes the game: that is the whole subject of our guide Which Aniimo for what.
The milestones not to miss
Your camp unlocks and produces offline: activate it immediately, every hour without a Homeland is an hour of production lost.
The Prismana Promise gives you a Prismana Aniimo already at level 40. The choice is final, think before you click.
The last cap announced in the beta. Beyond it, no more promotions to pass.
The level 40 milestone deserves real thought: the Aniimo arrives directly at your level, which makes it an immediate reinforcement for the team, but you won't be able to go back. Our ranking of the twelve level 40 Prismana eggs helps you choose based on what your team is missing, and the pre-registration guide covers the launch Prismana. For the dates of the Prismana Promise and the other launch bonuses, check the event calendar.
World level and Resonance: what changes as you climb
With each promotion, the world level climbs with you: wild Aniimo spawn at higher levels, so a fresh capture needs less manual leveling than at the start. That is one more reason not to grind ten Aniimo in parallel before you have passed your exam.
Resonance adds raw stats to an Aniimo through the Dewdrop Crystals specific to each family, with the Precious Dewdrop Crystal able to replace any of them. Two rules to keep in mind: the investment is not refundable, but it is transferable within a lineage. So you can strengthen an Emberpup without worry, its stars will follow all the way to Scorchhowl.
The Aniimo that save you time
You don't need a tier-list team to level fast, but a few profiles genuinely smooth out the story-captures-dailies loop. Here are our picks, based on the tier list and the official traits.
Lunara
Your starting Aniimo remains an excellent story engine: Lunar Power adds +30% final damage when you are not attacking with an advantageous element, so it hits hard on everything without a second thought (Helion does the same with Solar Grace).
Trait Lunar Power Read →
Scorchhowl
SS in DPS and in Fire Affinity; Scorching Flames grants +25% damage against targets weak to its element, ideal for clearing Grass and Ice zones quickly. Emberpup can be found from Nimbus Fields onwards (level 5-15).
Trait Scorching Flames Where to find Beast Fang RidgeRead →
Geoclaw
SS in Break and SS for digging, available at Nimbus Fields from the very start: it breaks the guard of Alphas for their first reward and opens up underground shortcuts.
Trait Frostbite Sunder Where to find Nimbus FieldsRead →
Turbo
SS for flying according to our mobility ranking: this is the Aniimo that lets you chain challenges, captures and Amber on a single route without wasting time on the ground.
Trait Shrouded in Mist Where to find Nimbus FieldsRead →
Gracewing
SS in Heal; Flutter Heal restores 0.5% of max HP with every skill cast by an ally even while it is off field, which limits trips back to the outpost between fights.

Your routine when you launch the game
- ✓Check whether a promotion exam is available in Elite Training, and take it first
- ✓Advance the main story up to the next level wall
- ✓Do the daily activities (≈ 1,800 XP recorded in the beta)
- ✓Claim the Journey tiers you have already reached
- ✓Plot a route that combines Pathfinder challenges, new species to capture and Lumin Amber
- ✓Capture every never-caught species you come across on the way
- ✓Restart Homeland production before logging off (from level 20)
- ✓Keep XP gems for an Aniimo that needs catching up, not for an Aniimo already at the cap
FAQ
Why am I no longer gaining levels even though I'm farming enemies?
Because your Pathfinder has reached the cap set by your current promotion. Only the next Elite Training exam raises that cap; the XP earned in the meantime accumulates but is useless until you have passed it.
Should I capture every Aniimo I come across?
No. A capture yields 150 to 300 XP depending on the stage, but the main value is the first catch of each species. Capture what you don't have yet, and save your Aniipods for the rest.
Does the "Master Trainer" talent with +10% XP really exist?
It is an unverified rumor. One beta source claims it, another denies it, and the advice that goes with it (don't use any XP gem before taking it) is therefore not confirmed. We will update this guide as soon as we have the answer on the launch version.
Are Sanctums worthwhile for XP?
Based on our observations, no. Do them for their specific rewards, but don't count on them to level up.
What is the maximum level?
The final cap announced during the beta is level 71, reached after the last promotion. This figure is still to be confirmed at launch.
